How to Install a Watch Face on a Galaxy Watch (Wear OS)
Got a new watch face from Google Play but not sure how to actually put it on your Samsung Galaxy Watch? It only takes a minute. Here’s the whole process, plus the two things that trip most people up.
Before you start
Your Galaxy Watch (Watch 4 and newer) runs Wear OS, so watch faces are regular apps you install from the Play Store, not files you copy over. You’ll need your watch paired to your phone and connected to the internet.
Install a watch face from your phone
- On your phone, open the Google Play Store.
- Find the watch face you want. If you already have a link, just tap it, for example our Celestial Glow Pro face.
- Tap Install. Google Play automatically sends it to your paired watch, there’s no separate download on the watch itself.
- Wait a few seconds for it to appear on the watch.
Apply it on your watch
- On the watch face you’re currently using, press and hold the screen.
- Swipe through the carousel until you find your new face, or tap Add and pick it from the list of installed faces.
- Tap it to set it as your active face. Some faces show a Customize button, tap it to change colors, complications, and layout.
If the face doesn’t show up
Two things fix this almost every time:
- Give it a moment. The transfer from phone to watch isn’t instant. Wait 30 seconds and re-open the face carousel.
- Check both are online. If your watch is on Wi-Fi only and drifts off the network, the install can stall. Keep it near your phone with Bluetooth on.
If it still won’t appear, open the Play Store on the watch (Apps → Play Store), tap your profile, and check Manage apps to confirm it installed.
Make it yours
Once you’re comfortable installing faces, the fun part is customization. Faces like Arcane Face and Petal Drift let you swap complications for your health stats, calendar, or shortcuts, so every glance shows what matters to you.
